Punta Arenas – Ushuaia Itinerary

Day 1          Punta Arenas
After arriving in Punta Arenas, check in at Australis Office and then boarding Stella Australis Cruise. Welcome drink and cocktail reception on board. The Cruise weighs anchor, begin to navigate to Magellan’s Strait and Beagle Channel to discover Patagonia, one of the most impressive areas in the world (Tierra del Fuego included).

Day 2          Ainsworth Bay – Tucker Islet
Today you will be arriving around Marinelli Glacier located in Ainsworth Bay. This will be the first step to know part of the Magellanic forest. A colony of elephant seals will give you the welcome. Later, the Cruise sails to Tucker Islet. Excursion on zodiac boats to visit some colonies of Magellan Penguins and Cormorants.

Day 3          Pia Glacier & Bay
Today you will continue sailing through Beagle Channel. Later, you will discover Pia Glacier and Bay. There will be a short hike to take a look at Pia Glacier. Then the navigation continues to Alley Glacier.

Day 4          Cape Horn or Cabo de Hornos
Probably one of the highlights of this Cruise is the excursion you will have today to Cape Horn or Cabo de Hornos. Also known The End of the World, Cabo de Hornos was declared World Biosphere by UNESCO. After this excursion you will continue navigate until arriving at Wulaia Bay, an ancient settlement of aborigines.

Day 5          Ushuaia
After sailing the last part of Beagle Channel, you will arrive at Ushuaia, a beautiful city located in Tierra del Fuego. The Cruise ends in this important city of Tierra del Fuego.

Ushuaia – Punta Arenas Itinerary

Day 1          Ushuaia
Today you can check in at Australis Cruise office from 09:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon. Later, from 18:00 until 19:00 begins the Boarding Ship. Welcome cocktail. The cruise begin the navigation through Beagle Channel to explore the end of the world: Patagonia, Magellan Strait and Tierra del Fuego.

Day 2          Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay
The Cruise continues its navigation through Beagle Channel, until arriving at Cape Horn National Park. Cape Horn is the most southern place of Tierra del Fuego Archipelago in the Patagonia. It is also the Drake Passage’s North Borden, where the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean get together. For many years, Cape Horn was one of the most important places for major navigators. Cape Horn is a promontory of over 400 meters. This National Park was also declared in 2005 as World Biosphere Reserve. After visiting this place, the cruise continues to Wulaia Bay, a settlement of Yamana people. During the excursion you will be walking through Lengas, Coihues and Canelos all of them belong to Magellanic Forest.

Day 3          Cockburn Channel
During the morning the Cruise will sail through Ocasión Channel until arriving at Cockburn Channel. During the afternoon, you will have a zodiac navigation through Alakaluf Fjord. Several waterfalls will appear during the excursion. Take a look at Nena and Piloto Glaciers. Return to the Ship. During the navigation days, you will also have the chance of assisting to some interesting lectures about History, Wildlife and Geography.

Day 4          Magdalena Island
Magdalena Island is located in Magellan Strait. The island is the place of a big colony of Magellanic Penguins. Walking tour around the area to admire the penguins. This excursion takes place if the weather conditions allow it. And during September and April, instead of Magdalena Island excursion you will have a zodiac excursion to Marta Island to watch some Sea Lions.
Later, arrive in Punta Arenas Port. End of the services.
