Putaendo was the first town at which the patriotic army in 1817 arrived. Four centuries before, in 1485, during the Incas invasion of Túpac Yupanqui, his son Huaina Capac crossed the Andean bulk and descended by this valley, encamping in Putaendo and incorporating the valley of the Aconcagua to the Incas civilization.

Retaking the main way it will pass by the village of patrimonial tourism Putaendo River, offers lodging in constructed conical structures of trunks, straw and mud. In its flanks are located the public buildings and the Church of San Antonio Built it between 1862 and 1893 with a combination of styles neoclassic and neogothic. Is located in an esplanade of 15 hectares in the El Llano hill, where is distributed a great number of sculptures of carts previously intervened in artistic way. In February the International Encounter of sculptures is made, where it is possible to be seen working of national and foreign artists and to enjoy other cultural and artistic events. The access to the sculptures park Cemetery of Carts is free, to visit throughout the year.
The Cypress of the Mountain range (Austrocedrus chilensis) is the native tree of pyramidal form that can reach up to 25 meters of height and its trunk - of wrinkled crust and scamps surface - 4.92 to 6,56 feet of diameter. It is distributed between Aconcagua and Chiloé in cords of the Mountain range of The Andes, until the 6.561,68 feet of altitude occupying, of preference, the slopes of greater exhibition to the sun. It grows in poor and eroded grounds, generally of volcanic origin. Its wood is whitish, aromatic, light, resistant and something knotted.
In Putaendo it is possible to enjoy exquisite rack and poured of pork, prepared with local recipes in the Chancherías Santa Clara, huaso Olguín and Esperanza.
