Rio Cipreses (Cipreses River) National Reserve

Within the limits of the Rio Cipreses National Reserve coexists varied species of animals and birds, such as the culpeo fox, the parrot tricahue (species in extinction danger) and the fox chilla. But one of the most interesting aspects of the park is bosquetes of cypress of the mountain range, presents in the Urriola sector and that coexist with unit of olivillo of the mountain range.

Another remarkable aspect in the Rio Cipreses National Reserve is the petroglifos left by small groups of hunters back 5 thousand or 8 thousand years in diverse places of the reserve, such as the Stone of the Indian (Piedra del Indio). More recent in our history, constitute stories and legend on the legendary Pincheira brothers, brigands who took refuge in the intricate mountain range drawers after their assaults to principle of century XIX.

To the bottom of this valley, to which mules or horses acceded by a footpath narrow, it is the birth of the Cipreses River, which long ago brought forth at the beginning of the valley from the Glacier Cypresses. Nevertheless, the glacier has backed down with the years and is at the moment raised at the top of the valley in a species of rock cork that boxes what remains of this one. The river is still born directly underneath the glacier in an impressive spectacle, but also small lagoons in the highest zones of the park exist, so is the case of the lagoon Water of the Life.

In the beginning of the glacier they emphasize several finishing nails, but in the stop, in the Superior glacier Cypresses (Glaciar Superior), the Dr. Hernán Cruz mass is born.

From the Spas of Cauquenes (Termas de Cauquenes), a way, in sections rough, takes 9 miles to the entrance of the Rio Cipreses National Reserve, with 36,882 ha, and altitudes between the 2.952 and 16.076 feet. Soon, it will rise by a way of 3.7 miles that extends next to the Cachapoal River (Rio Cachapoal), through a native forest of peumos and quillayes. Tricahues will be able to see flocks of parrots and their caves in cliffs, as well as culpeos foxes and chillas, that habitually approach zones of public use. In the group of rocks is possible to be sighted vizcachas. The place counts on a House of Administration of Conaf (Casa de Administración de Conaf), a day-care center, an Environmental Information center, a room of exhibitions, footpaths of excursion, areas of picnic and camping.

In order to make the excursions by the drawer of Cypresses River (Rio Cipreses) it is necessary to count on a carrier and 2 days of trip. There imposing cliffs, petroglifos, cascades can be seen and will be able to reach the forests of cypresses of the mountain range - where there are groups of guanacos -, the lagoon Water of the Life (Laguna Agua de la Vida), with waters of turquoise color and glaciers. All the year is open. The entrance schedule is from 8:30 to 18 hours. It counts on an area of picnic and camping that costs $4,500 up to 7 people. The entrance is of $1,700, children up to 12 years $800.
