Chungara Lake

Chungara Lake is located in Lauca National Park
Chungara Lake is placed 4,570 meters above sea level and it is surrounded by the Payachatas, two extinguished and snowy volcanoes which appear in every postcard from this area. The amazing scenery where the Chungara Lake takes place is the beautiful Lauca National Park. On the 65 km, there is the Chungara Custody of CONAF.
The park rangers information describes the place. The road bordering the lake allows to appreciate the great amount of birds. On the 71 km. is located the Frontier Complex Chungara Lake (Complejo Fronterizo Lago Chungará).
Within the activities possible in this area are climbing, hiking, to watch the flora and fauna, archaeological observation, hot springs baths and camping. The summer is the time with more visitors, specially the months of January and February.
