The Cerro San Cristobal is part of the Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, a huge infraestructure composed by parks, art gallery, hills, pools, garden, a sanctuary and a zoo.

-Virgen del Cerro:

A white statue of the Virgin Mary, tops the Cerro San Cristobal, from there you can get an incredible view of  Santiago. A souvenir shop and a chapel are available for devotees.

It was inaugurated in December 12ft of 1925. There are diverse animal species. Exhibits endemic species like: Pumas, Condors, Pudúes and others species brought from foreign countries.

House – Museum the Chascona of Pablo Neruda

It was Declared National Monument in 1990. Located on the base of the Cerro San Cristobal was the residence of the Chilean poet Nobel Prize of Literature Pablo Neruda. In 1955 Pablo Neruda and Matilde Urrutia choose this place to live. In the house there are an important amount of books, pictures and other objects that they reunited throughout their life. In addition this residence is the head office of the Neruda Foundation.

Funicular of the Cerro San Cristobal

It is located in the Cerro San Cristobal in Providencia. In September 25 of 1924 the official inauguration of funicular of the Cerro San Cristobal took place. It was created thanks to the initiative of the intendant Alberto Mackenna.

At the border of Bellavista terrace is the Funicular superior station, this is the transport system that is used to descend from the hill. The Funicular works from 1925 and consists of two cars on rails, united by a same steel cable that goes through a great wheel of propulsion located in the House of Machines. A car is on the foot of the hill and the other in the station Summit. When turning the propulsion wheel, the cars ups and down at the same time to cross it at the middle of the route. The route, of 548,99 yards, becomes by a steep pending of 45°, between a forest of varied species. It is a spectacular visit for adult and boys. Important: funicular only stops in the Zoological Station when it is ascending.

The Cerro San Cristobal can be accessed both through the Pio Nono entrance or the Pedro de Valdivia Entrance, the last one is just 10 minutes distance by car from the Orly Hotel-Santiago located in Providencia.
