El Toqui Valley
El Toqui Valley (Valle El Toqui) was opened by pilgrims in 1940. In the middle of the burned forest, Cerro Catedral stands out , the hill separates the valley of the Argentinean lake Plata-Fontana (Lago Plata-Fontana). The mine the Toqui (La mina El Toqui) is underground and produces concentrated of zinc and gold. Mañihuales is villa from 1962 and has telephone, warehouses, a small inn, cabins and an area of camping and picnic in the middle of a precious forest of larix, conifer introduced as forest tree that hurls its leaves in winter forming a smooth cushion in the ground. This area is part of the Mañihuales National Reserve, of 1206 hectares, where forestation studies are developed and the huemules in its high part are protected. The place, in addition, counts on an area to make picnic. Free entrance fee.
