Puerto Varas is located in the North door of the Chilean Patagonia. It is also called as the “City of the Roses” from where the Andes Lake Crossing program start. During two days or a full day (just in summer season), you can travel from Puerto Varas in Chile, to Bariloche in Argentina, in comfortable buses and modern catamarans that cross at least 4 lakes in the total journey: Todos los Santos Lake; Llanquihue Lake, Lago Frías Lake and finally Nahuel Huapi Lake.

We rented two Toyota Hilux 4x4 trucks to travel the entire length of Ruta 40 Sur in Argentina. Then we proceeded to Tierra del Fuego and Torres del Paine before returning to Santiago. The vehicles were great, and we never had any documentation problems when crossing borders.
