I arrived in Chile, with one thing of my mind, Elqui Valley, I had seen the pictures of my friend Peter in his last trip to Chile to his hometown Cochiguaz, since that moment I knew I had to get there in some point of my life.
Elqui Valley is pure magic, is something about the vines, the river, the hills and the numerous folk legends. There, I met many foreign people as me, that began travelling and decided to stay there, one of them was a German guy, an engineer that lived with his Chilean wife and their two children in the last house located in the last hill in Cochiguaz. Cochiguaz is a little town with meditation and new age activities, you know: yoga, zen meditation, reiki, it is said that Elqui Valley has strong energies and positive vibrations, that is the main reason because there are so many centers of that kind, besides, of course the beautiful natural surroundings. If you are not in that vibe, you can enjoy the other side of the Elqui valley, which is the vines, wineries and the Pisco. Pisco it is a grape-based distilled liquor, in the US would be something as the moonshine but less stronger, my Chilean friends made me taste it, all I can say about it, is that I brought 4 bottles back home with me, LOL.

You should go to Vicuña, is it the home town of famous female poet Gabriela Mistral, the one that appears in the 5000 pesos bills, which is one of the Novel prize winners that Chile has.
Well I am not going to tell you everything about Elqui Valley, you should really go and see it yourself, but if you go let me give you some advice: Don’t be surprise if you run into goats in the road, look into the sky in the night it is said that there are UFOs and well if you see nothing you still have the clearest sky in the world, the legend tells that the trees are full with spirits of the nature and you can hear them if you are silent enough.
